Phillip Keith Purkey arrested by Kaufman County Sheriff's Department

Phillip Keith PurkeyPhillip Keith Purkey was booked into the Kaufman County Jail on May 26, 2016, at 2:18 a.m.  He was arrested by the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department on a charge of possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 in an amount of 4 grams or more but less than 200 grams. Bond is set at $25,000. Purkey is described as a white male, date of birth February 5, 1951, with blue eyes and brown hair, standing 6’ tall and weighing 185 pounds. This charge stems from a drug raid in Terrell on October 23, 2015. During the raid, officers entered a residence occupied by Purkey and Justin Purkey. Upon entry, Phillip Purkey threatened officers with a 12 gauge shotgun and was subsequently shot by officers. He was transported in good condition to a hospital and was subsequently indicted on this charge. Purkey was previously charged with assault causing bodily injury family violence in Kaufman County. That case was dismissed “in the interest of justice” on November 3, 2010.
